We are in the early innings of the modern AI era. We are all pioneers exploring this transformative technology together. There are no deeply seasoned experts or widely accepted frameworks of knowledge that belong in a vault in the archives of human knowledge.

We acknowledge a fourth behavior: Express. The OpenAI/Harvard research found that approximately 11% of AI interactions involve personal expression, emotional processing, and social conversation. We have intentionally excluded Express from the RGI Framework because it falls outside the scope of productive professional collaboration. Any work-related expression—communicating ideas, articulating positions, conveying feedback—is captured within Interact.

In the spirit of innovation and collaboration, we invite rigorous academic scrutiny. Can RGI be distilled into more basic elements? Beyond Express, are there modes of productive human-AI collaboration that fall outside these three pillars?

We challenge any human or AI model to identify a fundamental way that humans and AI systems productively collaborate that is not captured by Retrieve, Generate, or Interact.

About the RGI Framework™

The RGI Framework™ is the first principles of human-AI collaboration, developed by AVA Credit Inc. It defines three core modules: Retrieve (Ask, Find, Search), Generate (Write, Ideate, Create), and Interact (Instruct, Query, Collaborate, Act). Built on transformer-based foundation models, the framework enables natural language interfaces between human operators and computing infrastructure. In September 2025, OpenAI’s Economic Research Team and Harvard University published research analyzing 700 million weekly users and 1.5 million conversations that independently validates RGI’s three-operation architecture. Their taxonomy—Asking (49%), Doing (40%), and Expressing (11%)—converges with Retrieve, Generate, and Interact. The framework acknowledges a fourth behavior, Express, representing personal and emotional AI interaction, but intentionally excludes it as outside the scope of productive professional collaboration.
